We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information which we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
If you wish to access the information we hold about you, you are welcome to contact our Privacy Compliance Officer who will respond to you within 30 days. A handling fee may be payable so that we can obtain the information you require. Under the Privacy Act you have the right to access personal information we hold about you. If the information is incorrect, you have the right to require us to amend the information.

7. Security

We will take all reasonable steps to protect the security of the personal information that we hold. This includes appropriate measures to protect electronic materials and materials stored and generated in hard copy.
You should be aware that the Internet is not a secure environment. If you use the Internet to send us information, including your email address, it is sent at your own risk.

Notes and Assumptions

1. Calculations are done and projections presented in today's dollars. This is achieved by excluding inflation in calculating your retirement needs and your ongoing contributions and applying "real" or above inflation returns to any accumulated balance.
2. Assumed tax rate of 15% on taxed contributions.
3. Assumed tax effective rate of 10% on investment earnings. This is less than the prescribed 15% on investment earnings allowing for deductions from dividend imputation, discounted capital gains tax etc. This may still lead be an over estimation of taxes payable in the draw down phase during which earnings may accumulate tax free (for example under current regulations where the balance is converted into an allocated pension) and therefore a small overestimation of the actual retirement balance required.
4. An allowance has been made for above inflation salary increases of 1% per annum.
5. Anticipated annual real returns should be net of fees but before tax (tax on investment earnings is accounted for within the calculator). For example, if you anticipate annual real returns of 5% and your super fund charges 1% in total annual fees, then you should enter a real return of 4%.
6. Draw downs on super in retirement are assumed to be taken as a lump sum at the beginning of the year. No allowance is made for possible investment income on the draw down amount during the year of the draw down.
7. Life expectancies are based on Comcare life tables from 2004 and have been rounded to the nearest whole number.
8. In 2008/09 the maximum before tax (concessional) contribution that can be made into super is $50,000 and $100,000 for over 50s. From 30 June 2009 this reduces to $25,000 and $50,000 respectively. Over 50s are able to contribute up to $50,000 per year for the next up until 30 June 2012 at which it will reduce to $25,000 (plus any adjustments for inflation. The calculator does not allow for a future variation in the contribution amounts.
9. In 2008/09 the maximum after tax (non-concessional) contribution that can be made into super is $150,000 per annum or $450,000 in any three year period.
10. There is no allowance for any potential change over costs should you decide to switch super providers at some point in the future.
